The leader of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has been implicated in a tragic road accident that occurred while he was traveling to Rentapalla village in the Palnadu district. This information was confirmed by a police official on Sunday.
According to the officer, on June 18, Reddy was en route to meet the family of a party member who had tragically taken their own life a year prior. His vehicle passed through the Etukuru bypass during the journey.
Guntur district's Superintendent of Police (SP) S. Satish Kumar informed reporters late Sunday that after analyzing various pieces of evidence, it was determined that the individual who lost their life was struck by the wheels of Reddy's vehicle.
Upon receiving the report, authorities found the elderly victim, Singayya, severely injured. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead by medical staff. Following a complaint from Singayya's wife, Chilli Lurdhu Mary, a case was registered under Section 106(1) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for causing death by negligence.
The officer noted that after reviewing CCTV footage, drone images, and circumstantial evidence, police confirmed that Singayya had indeed been run over by the former Chief Minister's vehicle.
Once the confirmation of the incident was made, the police added charges under IPC Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and Section 49 (provocation) to the case, intensifying their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Kumar also mentioned that besides Jagan Mohan Reddy, other accused individuals include the vehicle's driver Ramana Reddy, personal assistant K. Nageshwar Reddy, senior YSR Congress leader Y.V. Subba Reddy, former MLA Parni Venkataramaiah, and former minister Vidudala Rajani.
